As part of my other commercial enterprise, Bottlerocket Ltd which concentrates of producing apps aimed at the kids market, I worked with Dorling & Kindersely to design a new digital sticker-book experience. Translating their existing successful book product and helping it evolve into a new digital publishing format for the company.
For DK, not only did this help them define a new product category within their organisation, by employing myself, they also got to keep a lot of the UI/UX knowledge in-house. Through-out the project, I worked with closely with DK’s own design and management team, from wire-framing through to UI/UX design phases. They got to see first hand, the process I use in App and product development and in the context of a real project, worked out how their own internal processes could work with that.
Their in-house digital team handled the iOS build, working with a programming team based in their Indian office.
What we achieved at the end of this was a product that would provide the foundation going forward for additional titles, the latest of which is the DK Lego Friends Ultimate stickers and the DK LEGO Chima
